Homemade Strawberry Applesauce

Homemade Strawberry Applesauce

So my son is quite the selective eater and this is one the things he will eat without a fuss. I also use this strawberry applesauce as a substitute for oil/butter in some baking recipes.

It’s so easy to make, so yummy and more importantly, healthy. No added sugar. No preservatives. Just apples, strawberries and water!

I used;

• 2 large apples
• I ½ cups frozen strawberries/fresh strawberries (hulled)
• ¾ cup water

This recipe will give yield 32oz/4 cups of strawberry applesauce.

1. Dice the apples into 1 inch pieces

2. Place the diced apples in a pot, together with the strawberries and the water.
3. Bring to boil, reduce the heat and cover the pot and let simmer for about 15 minutes until the apples are tender.

4. Remove the pot from heat. At this point you can use an immersion blender and blend until the sauce is the consistency you want. I used a regular blender. Be careful because it’s really hot. I pureed for about a minute until the sauce was smooth.

5. Let the sauce cool. Transfer it to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
You can also freeze it and it will last for at least six months.
